NRPA released its GIS Data Model in April 2010. We are now getting ready to develop PRORAGIS (Parks & Recreation Operating Ratio & Geographic Information System) which will combine the Operating Ratio Study and the GIS Data Model into an online profile for agency data. The GIS Data Model will be the basis for this web application which, in its first phase, will give users access to interactive mapping and analyses tools. You will need the GIS Model attributes and values to participate in PRORAGIS. You do not need to participate in PRORAGIS to use the GIS Model.
The GIS Model allows you to make a list (inventory) of all the lands and facilities (assets) that you own, plan, manage, operate, and maintain. By providing standard attributes and values, the GIS Model makes it possible for better local, regional, and statewide management and planning of park and recreation resources.
We have made some minor changes to the data model and Version 1.1 is available for download - please go to the download page to access the GIS data model (in geodatabase and excel formats) and how-to documents. NRPA encourages agencies and jurisdictions who do not currently have GIS data to download the excel spreadsheet and get started with their data inventories.
