The NRPA GIS model consists of three data frameworks - one each for Parks, Trails and Recreation Facilities. You can download the Proposed GIS Data model to be used in either of the following two formats:

• ESRI File Geodatabase - This is the recommended data type for GIS users. This format contains full use of drop-down lists for entering attribute values, as well as the use of sub-types and field alias names. The Geodatabase contains empty feature classes for Parks, Trails and Facilities that you can load your existing GIS data into. You can choose to use whichever features classes pertain to your agency, and simply delete (or leave empty) the rest.
• Microsoft Excel - for non-GIS users. This file contains the same structure and drop-down value choices as both the GIS models (above). This should be used by any agency that does not yet have GIS, but plans to in the future. You can start with this MS Excel file and when you are ready to develop your GIS, your data will already be in the proper format. Alternately you can create your data directly on the PRORAGIS website.
